Workshop Services - FAQs

Q

My car is under manufacturer's warranty, does this mean if I have the vehicle serviced with yourselves my warranty is invalid?

A

No, as a VAT registered Company work carried out in our workshop is in line with manufacturers' requirements and service schedule. All of the parts we use are Original Equipment specification and therefore maintains the manufacturer's warranty.

Q

Do you use only Genuine Renault Parts for service / repair work?

A We use Genuine Renault parts for all services unless the customer specifies otherwise, for example on highly tuned engines, original parts are not suitable, so upgraded parts will be fitted. All new parts fitted by us are covered by a 12 month parts and labour warranty.

Q

Will I be informed if any other parts / costs are required prior to commencing the work?

A

It is inevitable in some cases that additional parts or labour costs are required in order to rectify an issue. We do our upmost to talk through the possibilities and options available prior to commencing any work, however, it is the nature of the job that unexpected circumstances may arise. In this situation we always seek authorisation from you the customer before any additional work other than that previously agreed is carried out.

Q

My car is five years old but has only covered 38,000 miles, do I still need to have the Timing Belt changed?

A

Yes, the Renault service schedule for Timing Belt's is five years OR 72,000 miles, which ever is the soonest. We have seen many Timing Belt failures on low mileage vehicles that are 5 years old or older. Owing to the material the Timing Belt is made from, this will degrade over time and mileage alike and must be changed in line with Renault's service schedule. Failure of the Timing Belt can result in very expensive repair costs and the vehicle being off the road for a period of time. We would also recommend a Timing Belt be changed if you have purchased a used vehicle which shows no evidence of having it changed. With the belt changed you know where you are from the outset.
