NEW YEAR - NEW PARTS ON THE WAY.

Wednesday 16th January 2013

We used this years Autosport International show to release some details of some new parts and kits we have coming out in the early part of this year. These include some fantastic new coilover suspension kits as well as a new supercharger kit for the Clio 197/200 models. We also showcased our latest KTR GEN90 ecu application for the Clio 182 and 182 Cup race cars.

Nitron Suspension kits:

Over the next few weeks we will be releasing 2 specs of Nitron coilover kit for the Clio 197/200, Megane 2 RS 225/R26/R26.R and the Megane 3 RS 250/265 models.

The first will be the NTR R1 kits aimed at the fast road and track day driver. They feature both bump and rebound adjustment via their combined built in adjuster as well as fully adjustable ride height front and rear. They are also supplied with fully adjustable top mounts to allow you to set the car up to suit your own driving style. These kits will be priced at £1663+vat.

The second specification will be the NTR Race R3 kits. These are the full on race kits which have been proven on many race cars around the world and as used on the car which set the VLN Nurburgring lap record. These kits feature a piggy back reservoir with independent 3 way adjustment, this gives a 16 click high compression adjustment, 18 click low compression adjustment and a 24 click rebound adjustment. These are also fully ride height adjustable and also come with fully adjustable top mounts. These kits will be available in the same fitments as the R1 kits and will be priced at £2996+vat.

Clio 197/200 KTR Supercharger kit:

During the spring of this year we will be releasing our supercharger kit for the Clio 197/200 models. This is a kit we have been running on our test car for the past few months and once the final part of testing and development has been done we will be set to release the kit. The kit will be based around a Rotrex supercharger and our acclaimed GEN90 ecu which is being adapted to run the engine and dash in the 197 and 200 models. This will make the kit a simple DIY fitment or there is always the option to have the kit fitted, set up and mapped in our Dorset based workshop. On our test car the kit has produced a reliable 243bhp and 210lbs/ft of torque - quite a significant gain over the standard car. The kit price will be £4163+vat and more details and pictures will be released as we get close to the release date.

KTR GEN90 for Clio 172/182 Cup Race cars:

As we own a Clio 172 Cup race car it was always clear to see that tuning the engine in order to produce more power was goign to be very difficult using the standard Magnetti Marelli ecu. The ecu itself is very difficult to tune and the fact that is also operated all the dash functions meant that if we wanted to change the ecu we would also have to change the dash.

With this in mind we have set out to get our GEN90 to run the engine as well as fully control the dash as per the standard MM ecu. This allows us to then tune the engine however we choose whether that be with cams, ITB kit, turbo or even supercharger kit but at the same time still have the standard dash running as normal. With our new Cup Race fitment this is now possible with the GEN90 ecu.

For this race car application the ecu is supplied with a motorsport spec direct replacement patch loom, GEN90 ecu, comms lead and our GEN Tuner Pro tuning software. The price for this kit will be £1495+vat.

KTR INDUCTION KITS NOW AVAILABLE

Thursday 1st November 2012

We have been working on a few new induction kits for various Renaultsport models and these are now starting to become available to buy through our website.

The first car we chose to work on was the Clio 172 and 182 models. In the past we had seen all types of kits fitted to these cars and most just produced a lot of noise and lost power. After hours of dyno testing we came up with our final design which you can now read more about here:

Next for our attention was the Megane 225 and R26 models. This was a little more tricky due to the limited space, but again many hours on the dyno allowed us to come up with an effective solution. Details of the kit can be seen here:

Next up will be the Clio 197 and 200 models and then the Twingo RS. We have finalised the design of the 197/200 which will be going into production in the next few weeks. Dyno testing has shown good gains and further details will be released soon. Then we will move onto the Twingo RS, we have a new set of cams to test in our own car over the next couple of weeks and once these are fitted and tested we will be looking at the induction kit, with an expected release date of early next year.

KTR Clio 197/200 Megane 225/R26 engine conversion details.

Monday 13th August 2012

We are getting many more inquiries relating to the Megane 225/R26 engine conversion that we carry out into the Clio 3 RS 197 and 200 models, so we thought it was time to give you a bit more details on this upgrade.

In order to carry out the full conversion we use the Megane engine, gearbox, turbo, catalytic converter, exhaust downpipe, wiring loom, ecu, radiator, coolant pipes and air conditioning radiator. Once we have all the parts we can start the work.

Removing the original engine and gearbox and fitting the new engine and gearbox is quite straight forward. We have to do a little work to the upper engine mount to get everything to fit as it should. The Megane water system is installed with a few modifications needed to the water pipes to get them to fit correctly and once this is done the radiators can be fitted. Next up is the intercooler and boost pipes. For this we use one of our Megane 225/R26 upper alloy boost pipes and a custom made lower boost pipe along with our own custom made alloy intercooler.

Next is the Wiring and Ecu. There are some wiring changes to be made to the wiring loom Ecu connection in order to run the Megane Ecu on the Clio. We also have to transfer immobiliser details from the 197 Ecu to the Megane Ecu to make sure everything works as it should, including Air conditioning, Cruise Control etc. This may sound easy but it is probably the most important part of the conversion and the biggest part to making sure this seems like a factory built car.

There are a few other factors that can be taken into account when considering this sort of conversion. Do you want to use the 197/200 gearbox to keep the costs down? Would you want to have the new engine mapped to around 260bhp when we are testing the car on the rolling road etc? It is also a good idea to fit new cambelt and aux belt kits before the engine goes in as well as check the condition of the clutch and flywheel. Using the 197/200 Gearbox could save up to £500 but please be aware this will give you different gearing to the Megane.

We expect the parts required from the Megane to cost between £2000-£3000 depending on what is available at the time. Our cost to carry out the installation, Ecu calibration, supply and fit of the Intercooler and Boost pipes as well as all the required fluids and Dyno checking will be £2750, all prices include VAT. We would normally need a car here for 2 weeks to carry out this work and we would generally need around 4-6 weeks notice in order to get the parts ready.

Should you need any more information on this upgrade please contact us at info@k-tecracing or workshop@k-tecracing.com

KTR new 197 demo car - this one is Supercharged!

Wednesday 20th June 2012

Our latest demo car was unvieled at the French Car Show at Donnington Race Circuit on the 17th June 2012.

This is a car we have owned for some time having purchased it as an ongoing project with a blown engine. Shortly after we took delivery we fitted a new standard engine, to which we have now fitted our prototype Supercharger kit along with our GEN90 ecu. The aim of this car is to test and fine tune our Supercharger kit so we will be able to offer this upgrade to our customer all over the world.

The biggest challenge so far has been getting the ecu working on the 197 due to the new software features that have been required compared to the 172.182 fitment. With this now done we are now moving onto the CAN side of the ecu so it will have the capacity to run your standard dash board, something that fitting any other ecu or piggy back ecu will not be able to do.

The beauty of this Supercharger kit is that it keeps that cars standard air conditioning so it will be an ideal conversion for those living in a warm climate, wanting more power from their 197/200 model. That along with the fact it will be supplied with the best plug in ecu available will make it a fantastic upgrade.

Early power testing has seen the kit produce 243bhp and 209 lbs/ft of torque running on the standard engine with low boost. There will be the possibility of running more boost on a forged engine where 300bhp+ should be easily achievable. However we will first be carrying out some high speed and endurance testing very soon with some more figures and videos coming soon. Watch this space!

Other interesting parts on the car are the 18" Evo Corse wheels which features a 48mm offset which helps fill the arches, H&R coil springs on the standard shock absorbers, KTR cat back exhaust system, carbon rear diffuser and a full leather and alcantara retrim. Altogether it is a very nice package which performs as good as it looks.

We will be keeping our Facebook page updated with the results of our testing so please "Like" our page to keep up with our latest news.
