Its been new ECU week.
Thursday 12th August 2010![]() |
This week has seen no less that 4 Clio RS models come in for our new GEN90 ecu. These have included:
- Clio 182 Turbo for the GEN90 ecu, should be mapped next week
- Clio 172 Turbo, Omex ecu removed and our GEN90 ecu installed
- Our old Clio 172 demo car also for the new GEN90 ecu and mapping
- Clio 172 Cup for our DTH throttle body kit with GEN90 ecu
All the above cars will not only be set up and mapped on the dyno, but will also be live mapped on the road to make some fine adjustments to the way the car drives, all the while logging various data such as AFR (air/fuel ratio) and knock. The cars are also kept here for several days to allow us to fine tune and test from cold start before under going road tests before being handed back to their lucky owners.
Megane 250 suspension testing at Silverstone.
Friday 6th August 2010![]() |
This week we took a trip to Silverstone to test the new Nitron Coilover suspension kit that we are developing for the Megane 250. We were attending a Renaultsport track day and it was the perfect time to give the kits its first track outing.
We were joined by some of the guys from Nitron who brought some of their testing equipment along with them to monitor how the kit performed. This included data loggers to monitor shock travel as well as cameras to see how the shocks, and the car were behaving during the laps.
Having driven the car up to Silverstone on the roads we can confirm that even on its mid settings the car rides very well indeed. Once on track the revised geometry, courtesy of the fully adjust top mounts, and adjusted damping with new spring rates meant the turn in on the car was superb and the overall handling was better that we had hoped. All this was before we started adjusting the kit.
Unfortunately the weather in the afternoon did not help and the wet track was very slippery so we did not finish our full planned testing. We will howver be testing the kit out on a dry track in the coming weeks before full details and prices of the kit are released.

Some more workshop activity.
Wednesday 21st July 2010![]() |
As we slowly make our way through the summer our workshop contiues to be a hive of activity. Cambelt changes are always high on the list of the most popular work we carry out and we are now strating to see more Megane 2s and Clio 197s coming in for this to be done. In fact just a few days ago we have a Megane 225 Sport in for a cambelt and auxilary belt change and while it was here we decided to get a quote from a Renault main dealer for the same work. We are pleased to say we were nearly £800 cheaper and the customer went away safe in the knowledge he had just saved himself a small fortune.
Other cars that we have seen recently include:
- Clio 200 for KTR exhaust system
- Clio 197 for KTR stage 1 tuning package, gain of 13 bhp.
- Clio 200 for KTR stage 1 tuning package (this one gained 16bhp!)
- 3 x Clio 255 V6s for auxiliary belt changes
- Megane R26.R for KTR 330mm big brake kit (this is mainly used on the Ring)
- Clio 182 Turbo for full overhaul including interior, exterior and engine upgrades (more of this over the coming weeks)
- R5 GT Turbo for full brake upgrade and MOT work
- Clio 172 Ph2 for throttle bodykit and dyno set up.
- Clio 172 for full Gaz suspension kit, matched inlets, ecu remap and much more
- Many more Clio 172 and 182s for servicing, cambelts and ecu remaps.
- Clio 200 for another KTR exhaust system
- Megane 250 for KTR cat back exhaust system.
More updates will follow as we continue to get through some of the other interesting jobs we have in at present.
